Somebody

Would someone please remind me why commissionericide is ill advised? I am moving out of my office today with three weeks to go and nowhere to move into.

Done!

I’ve gone and thrown the cat among the pigeons. I have just handed in a letter which declined the offered position, resigned effective March 26, 2004 (the date previously agreed upon) and reminded the new Commissioner (who is an attorney) of a section in Indiana Code which says that if an employee’s job ends due to governmental reorganization, they have to help that person find a comparable position. The one they’d offered was not comparable by any stretch of anyone’s imagination. We can get insurance through Wick’s work.

They wanted me out, and I’m going. But I am not going quietly. And if they try any more nonsense, they will be forcibly reminded which of their attorneys has been handling all their employment law issues for the past four years. I make rugs. I don’t emulate them.

And hey, I feel much better now.

Arrant Pettiness

I have come in this morning to discover that my voice mail was reset to deny me access to my messages. I’ve had it corrected, but it wasn’t an error. The telecom person said she had been told to do it.

If you need to talk to me at work and I’m not in, e-mail acohen@bmv.state.in.us and tell me, and I’ll call you.

Grrrrr.
